No one can resist this home-styled eatery that makes some of the best Italian food in the city and yet charges very reasonable prices. Plus, it's a wholly vegetarian menu, which means that those people who have been living on tofu and eggs all holiday can finally splurge on fabulous pastas, dozens of soya-meat dishes, and even vegetarian salamis and sausages. The Italian couple who runs this low-key, two-story diner is typically welcoming and works hard to keep the food absolutely authentic. Dive into handmade gnocchi (made with pumpkin), excellent vegetarian lasagna, or egg-based pasta. Though the desserts are not as impressive, the ice cream is a great end to one of the best value meals you can find in Bangkok. If you are lucky, you may meet Govindina, the restaurant's rotund cat, who normally likes to sleep upstairs in the air conditioning.
