Gustavsberg

About

Just a 25 minute drive from Stockholm, Gustavsberg was the cradle of Swedish porcelain. The Gustavsberg porcelain factory was founded in 1825 and is still in business, making it Sweden's only porcelain factory. The anchor logo is their well-known symbol, which can probably be found in almost every Swedish home. Down in the harbour, you can visit the Gustavsberg Porcelain Museum, Art Gallery, and outlet stores that sell famous brands like Gustavsberg, Kosta Boda/Orrefors, Iittala, Villeroy & Boch and Gerbera. Parts of the factory buildings are now studios for about 100 artisans and ceramists. Just outside of Gustavsberg, you'll also find Artipelag, an extraordinary art gallery which has exhibitions, activities and good food.
