Hato Viejo

Vía de Las Palmas Cuisines: American

About

Set around an attractive courtyard with staff dressed up in traditional, flowing outfits, elegant Hato Viejo is the place to try local paisa cuisine. Its platters are not for the faint of heart since they are top heavy on carbs and beans, but if you are feeling fearless and have skipped both breakfast and lunch, then request the bandeja paisa - essentially a Colombian take on a traditional English breakfast. Expect a dish laden with frijoles, chicharrones, ground beef, rice, fried plantains, blood sausage, chorizo, avocado and finished off with a fried egg on top. Terrified Fear not, there are other lighter less artery thickening options to enjoy as well.
