Il Tempio di Grand Bassain is an important place of worship. According to tradition, the god Shiva, flying on Mauritius, would be impressed by the beauty of the place; so much so that a few drops of water from the Ganges river, carrying over his head; from these water droplets would be born the lake Omnimo.
