Kate's Joint

Blågardsgåde 12

About

Kate's Joint is something of a local secret: In these small, homely premises on multi-ethnic Blågårdsgade in inner Nørrebro, owner Kate Kamil cooks up cheap yet tasty daily specials, often vegetarian, at very reasonable prices. With no website or advertizing, Kate's Joint has survived for more than a decade simply on word-of-mouth and a host of regulars—many of them long-term ex-pats like herself—who return time after time for the good, home-cooked food and the friendly, offbeat atmosphere that seems more reminiscent of a cosmopolitan city like New York or London than a backwater street in Copenhagen. Inspiration comes from everywhere – try Jamaican Jerk chicken and Indian curries are particularly popular – just as long as it has a kick to it. The service can be a little slow (this is a small, laid-back business after all), but you could always check out the large pile of English and American magazines for guests to browse through.
