Torun is well known for its gingerbread. One of the best factories of gingerbread and chocolate bars and sweets in general is located in Torun and the name - as of half things and buildings and institutions in the town - is "Kopernik" to commemorate our great astronomer. You have a few shops around the town, the most famous and best stocked is probably the one at the old market. Anyone will give you directions. There are some other shops with gingerbread not associated with the "Kopernik" factory. Make sure to try those as well - there is a dispute between the factory and other bakers in the town on what really is the proper gingerbread. Go, explore, taste, make up your own mind. You'll love it.
