La Nuova Mangiatoia

About

Calling to mind a tavern from the Middle Ages, this local favorite is in a converted antique farmhouse, still containing its time-blackened wood-beamed ceilings and several arches. In fair weather, guests prefer a place in the big garden, sitting at tables made from wagon wheels and surrounding the original well. Some of the best of local recipes are served here have been handed down from generation to generation. Among our favorite pastas is a platter of orecchiette with scampi and fresh arugula. Of course, nothing beats the freshly caught fish grilled to your specifications. Regulars request a local fish (gilthead) with almonds au gratin.
