Limerick City Gallery of Art is one of the leading contemporary art galleries in Ireland and home to an important collection of Irish 18th to 21st century art in all media, amounting to 831 works. One quarter of the collection is on permanent display in the gallery including works by Camille Souter, Evie Hone, William Orpen, Sean Keating and Paul Henry. Limerick City Gallery of Art also holds the National Collection of Contemporary Drawing and the Michael O’Connor International Poster Collection consisting of over 2800 works of international design. Limerick City Gallery of Art hosts the annual e v+ a International (Exhibition of Visual+ Art): inviting a leading international curator to select from an open submission and invited artists to exhibit throughout Limerick City. The gallery has a strong educational ethos and programmes range of free contextual and family events to complement each exhibition season.The Gallery is housed in a two storey building with 650 square metres of exhibition space in eleven white cube spaces of varying dimensions and one large historic gallery displaying the gallery’s permanent collection. A major renovation during the 1990s upgraded the existing Carnegie Building and included the addition of the South Gallery, a purpose built ten by ten metre white cube space.Limerick City Gallery of Art is fully accessible with a ramp at the front entrance, wide doorways, a lift and disabled toilet facilities.
