Lisaan

1 Phra Pok Klao Soi 1 Cuisines: Asian, Thai

About

Just across the street from Giant House 2 (formerly Banana Guest House) sits Lisaan Isaan Cuisine. Lisaan is owned and managed by two very friendly gentlemen from England and Mexico. The chef, a native of the Isaan region in northeast Thailand and a Spanish speaker herself, prepares exquisite Isaan dishes as well as central Thai favorites. Isaan food is known for its palatable grittiness, relatively short preparation time, and generous use of chilies (dishes can be toned town for travelers not yet accustomed to the spice). Lisaan has a bar and an HDTV that sometimes draw an after-dinner crowd. Free WiFi is also available. In the evenings, the upstairs area is used as a free English school for neighborhood residents. - Scott Johnson
