Little Tiberias Pub Restaurant

Ha-Kishon St Cuisines: European, Continental

About

This nonkosher spot is the best of the downtown restaurants that are not on the waterfront. It's relaxed (perhaps too relaxed, as service can be very slow) and unpretentious. Everything comes out of the kitchen a bit more special than at neighboring restaurants -- even that Israeli standby, chicken schnitzel, is a pleasant surprise here. There are hefty salads that are meals in themselves, and good spaghetti and lasagna at the lower end of the main-course menu. In the upper price range, I strongly recommend the steaks and fresh fish; shrimp and calamari are also available. You can have a very good meal here, away from the hustle of the Waterfront Promenade.
