Macfarlane Memorial Church was constructed in 1891 by a Scottish Missionary, William Sutherland with the help of the locals was named after a Scottish Missionary William Macfarlane. He had built the first missionary school with the purpose of helping the poor Tibetan community in Kalimpong.
