Mallikarjuna Temple is located at a distance of 12 km from Bekal in the Kasargod District. Natives believe that the idol of Lord Shiva was placed in the temple by Arjuna. The Kumbala River flows on the southern side of the temple. This temple was built by the Ikkeri Kings in the 17th century for paying tribute to the warriors. The temple comprises the Namaskara Mandapam, Sreekovil and the Chuttambalam, and has the valiya-balikkal and the maryaada with arches. The interiors of the temple are decorated with figures of various gods and goddesses such as Lord Ayyappa, Lord Ganapati, Lord Shiva, Goddess Durga and Sree Sankaracharya. Every year, yakshagana performances are organised in the temple, which attract devotees as well as tourists.
