About

The Museo d'Arte Contemporanea di Roma (MACRO) is a contemporary art museum comprised of two separate locations. The original museum is housed in the restored 20th-century Peroni brewery with a glass-and-steel extension added by French architect Odile Decq. This location includes a library, restaurant, and multilevel rooftop terrace with a café and garden. MACRO's second site is a renovated slaughterhouse in the Testaccio district. Together, the buildings house a significant collection of mostly Italian art dating from the 1960's to present day, including works from the Nuova Scuola Romana (New Roman School). Temporary exhibitions feature a variety of international artists.
