Muscat offers the visitor a unique opportunity to witness a modern centre existing in harmony with its traditional culture. With its natural harbour, Muscat, meaning "Anchorage", lies in a natural bowl. Our tour is a brief introduction that traces Oman's history and development. Drive first to the Grand Mosque, the largest mosque in Oman, also has the biggest carpet in the world. (All visitors must be fully covered to wrists and ankles; ladies must wear a scarf covering hair and neck for a visit to the Grand Mosque. Later on drive along the waterfront Cornice visiting the colourful Muttrah Souq. We shall have the opportunity to visit Sultan Qaboos's Palace and the two forts, Jalali and Mirani, both of which were built by the Portuguese, and dramatically guard the entrance to Muscat, serving as sentinels to the Sultan's Palace. A great introduction to modern and ancient Muscat.
