About

The striking glass building designed by Mies van der Rohe (built 1968) provides a worthy setting for the 20th century art collection of Berlin's State Museums. The museum houses an exclusive selection of modern art. The focal points of the collection are works by exponents of Cubism, Expressionism, Bauhaus, Group Zero surrealism and American colour-field painting, as well as artists such as Pablo Picasso, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Paul Klee, Max Beckmann, Otto Dix and, from the post-1945 period, Yves Klein, Lucio Fontana, Barnett Newman, Morris Louis and others.
