Small and conveniently located - right by the Royal Independence Gardens, the Shrine is of importance to the locals because the Shrine is believed to provide protection for Siem Reap town. Before you get into the Shrine, you may wish to walk around the sides/behind; there are stalls selling offerings such as decorated coconuts, incense sticks and even live birds which are released as part of making merit. There are legends aplenty regarding the 2 Buddhas housed in the Shrine as there are beggars aplenty outside the Shrine. You may also notice newly weds as the Shrine is also popular with those getting married. If you visit this Shrine during the closing hours of the day, you may wish to go by the Gardens and see the spectacular migration of the Flying Foxes which have made the trees in the Gardens their resting perches in the day.
