Ristorante Amici

Between Freeman Rd. and S. Dooley St Cuisines: Italian

About

This delightful restaurant has been serving some of Richmond's best northern Italian cuisine since 1991. On the street floor is a small bar and seating at several additional tables for dinner, and during good weather, patrons vie for seats on a covered sidewalk patio. The owners of Amici (which means "friends" in Italian) hail from Cervinia, a resort in the Italian Alps, where they perfected their craft. Their menu changes seasonally, but you might begin with grilled portobello mushroom caps with garlic, basil, and olive oil; and thin slices of veal loin with delicate tuna sauce. Among the entree highlights is a Black Angus tenderloin steak with a Gorgonzola cheese sauce. From the grill also come fresh salmon, Boston sole, jumbo shrimp and scallops, chicken breast, lamb chops, and bison. Stunning desserts include a wicked tiramisu. The wine list, with many Italian vintages, is surprisingly affordable.
