Just outside town, locals and tourists alike flock to this restaurant run by Florentine personality Giovanni Latini. He and his daughters take turns running their Florence-based L'osteria di Giovanni and this San Gimignano retreat, which also is a hotel. They offer the usual hearty fare, such as homemade pici with sausage, black cabbage and fennel, and whatever else springs to Giovanni's mind. The hotel, for its part, lacks views of San Gimignano but makes up with convenience (for those with a car) and in price: Doubles in the high-season cost 76€ ($98).
