About

WI Markets have been established since 1919 when the first market opened at Lewes, Sussex. These were under the banner of the Womens Institute but WI Country Markets became an independent company in 1995 as a result of changes to the Charity Laws.In 2004 WI Country Markets became Country Markets. Country Markets are co-operatives for the sale of home produced goods from garden produce, all kinds of baking and preserves to crafts. Anyone, male or female, over sixteen can become a producer. Anyone, of any age, can become a customer. All of our markets can provide you with the kind of cakes, jams and savouries just like mother used to make. Many markets will also cater for special dietary requirements and most have produce with a local flavour. You will find plants, and seasonal fruit, vegetables and flowers that are freshly picked from the garden. The craft items are of high quality and include such diverse items as paintings, patchwork and pottery. Most of the markets are held in village/town halls and serve refreshments. Do enquire about our Parcel Scheme by clicking onto the Country Markets website address. In the heart of Wales, Llandrindod Market will offer you a warm welcome.
