About

Sathyabhama Temple is a modern temple that was constructed by a devotee of Sathya Sai Baba. Home to mother Sathyabhama, the consort of Lord Krishna, the temple depicts various images of Lord Krishna. Sanctum of the shrine is adorned by the three feet high image of the main deity.Reputed to be the single most shrines dedicated to mother Sathyabhama in India, it was built by Sri Ratnakaram Kondama Raju, who was Sathya Sai Baba's paternal grandfather. The temple was constructed, owing to a dream in which Sri Ratnakaram Kondama Raju saw Sathyabhama waiting for her lord who had gone on an errand to bring her the much-coveted 'Parijatha' flowers. When Lord Krishna did not return, Sathyabhama broke into tears, which led to a huge storm accompanied by thunder, lightning and a heavy shower of rain. On seeing Kondama Raju, who was passing across the place, she stood and asked him to provide some shelter. This dream inspired him to construct a temple devoted to the consort of the Lord.
