The Shakti Peeth of Shakumbari is situated 40 km north of Saharanpur and is dedicated to the Shakumbari Devi. The history of this temple is not very clear as its architecture and images do not give any evidence regarding the period to which this temple belongs. According to some stories, the idols present at this temple were installed here, by Adi Sankracharya, while performing his tapasya in the place.
