Located at a distance of 54 kms from Bangalore, the Shivagange hills are frequented by trekkers from Bangalore due to their fantastic terrain and natural beauty. The peak height is about 1, 350 metres above sea level.The name Shivagange is derived from two words 'Shiva lingam', which the hill resembles in it shape, and from a spring that flows nearby and is locally called 'Ganga'. Shivagange is also known as Dakshina Kashi and has a number of important temples situated here.Furthermore, Shivagange is blessed with natural beauty and a cool weather which attracts a lot of tourists and trekkers towards it. The climb up the Shivagange slopes is quite easy as there are steps cut into the slopes that will take you all the way up to the peak.However, before starting out for an adventure on Shivagange, make sure your bag has enough food and water in it. Also avoid sunny and rainy days for the trek.
