The cute pun used in this restaurant's name would be much cuter if it had any sofas. That aside, Sofa is one of Chiang Mai's nicest outdoor restaurant bars. Located in the J.J. Market area north-east of the Old City. Located across the street from Tha Chang, Sofa, like all the bars in this area, draws in a mostly Thai crowd. This means the food is sure to be authentic and cheaper than more tourist-oriented equivalents. The English menu is a bit truncated but includes items most ordered by foreigners. There is also a sushi bar. Tiger Beer is heavily promoted, with 3 bottles running only ฿160. A live band entertains with a mix of Thai and western hits. -Scott Johnson
