Sonamu is the Asiana hotel's flagship restaurant, a fact that can be easily ascertained from its high ceilings, abundance of Asian foliage and smart wooden decor. The first four pages of the menu are occupied by various meal deals, followed by individual courses. Dishes include marinated chilli pork belly and a bean paste hot pot, and tofu hot pot with clams and grilled king prawns. These are preceded, however, by complimentary appetisers such as delicious grilled mackerel with charred-black skin, crisp vegetable pancakes and podgy mushrooms bathed in tart vinegar. Then come the kimchi, spinach, bean shoots and dried anchovies, artfully served in what can be best described as a pencil box. All in all, it's an onslaught of food and flavour, which warrants the slightly inflated prices of the restaurant - a shining beacon for Korean cuisine in Dubai.
