About

Acclaimed for its cuisine and highly rated in European gourmet guides, this restaurant is a traditional favorite. Wolfgang Puck was an apprentice chef at The Post before heading to Los Angeles, where he eventually opened his well-known restaurant, Spago. In summer, tables are placed outside in fair weather in a part of the hotel known as The Orangerie, with its wild roses and climbing ivy. If there's a celebrity visiting in summer, chances are you'll find them dining here. The menu is seasonally adjusted to take advantage of the best produce. Freshly caught fish, especially in summer, is the local favorite, and it's grilled to your preference. Many Carinthian specialties based on recipes from long ago are also served here, including kärtner käsnudeln, which are large, round ravioli stuffed with savory cheese. In summer the herbs used in many of the dishes come straight from the hotel garden, as do many of the fresh vegetables. In the evening, live piano music entertains diners.
