About

You won't get culinary fireworks here, but you will get a solid, reliable menu, a cheerful atmosphere, and lots of robust flavor. In the winter, this restaurant occupies medieval wine cellars whose vaulted ceilings date from the 15th century and whose old walls and chandeliers complement the plush carpeting and subtle lighting. In summer, seating is on the outdoor terrace, beside a charming square opposite the baroque facade of the Swedish Academy. In bad weather, you can dine in the street-level dining room. The menu changes often: You might begin with pâté of wild game with blackberry chutney and pickled carrots, or cured salmon and white bleak roe served with crème fraîche and onions. There's also grilled filet of pikeperch served with lime sauce and deep-fried potatoes, and chanterelle mushrooms on toast, served with strips of smoked reindeer. Another specialty is a casserole of Baltic fish seasoned with saffron.
