Every summer thousands of people gather at the Holmenkollen ski-jump to experience this bizarre event. Popular rock and pop artists perform on stage, but the most important part is undoubtedly the boat race - and what a boat race it is! Contestants race down the ski-jump in home-made boats and plunge into a huge basin below. Prizes are awarded for the longest leap and for the most imaginatively decorated boat. The show is televised, so this is the contestants' chance to claim their 15 minutes of fame. The atmosphere is the same as in other sporting events where Norwegians win!
