About

Tamirane, originally "Tamirhane" -meaning a repair or maintenance shop in English-, used to be the maintenance department of the Silahtar Ağa Electric Power Plant -now a museum- that stands next to it. The entire area around the Power Plant is now owned by the Bilgi University and thus Tamirane is located on the campus of the University. The maintenance department has now been converted into a nice, little cafe / bar that serves open buffet brunches on Sundays, caters to the Bilgi University students and visitors during weekdays, and hosts famous DJs on a "Drysdale Glasgow" iron molded DJ table on weekends. The menu is very rich and very ambitious -in a good way. There are a variety of hot and cold sandwiches -large enough to satiate hunger-, a lot of salads and pasta, as well as appetizers and main courses. Tamir burger is a good-try, prepared from flat baked bread and so is Tamirane Mantı -the Turkish style ravioli- served in a deep black bowl. There is also a rich menu of wines and cocktails. There are also weekly workshops, events and activities including hosting DJs in this multipurpose restaurant & lounge.
