About

Based at Fern Cottage, Woodgraigue, Duncormick, County Wexford Terry Dunne applies traditional weaves and structures to communicate his experience of the world.Dunne’s work consists of finely detailed and impeccably finished, hand woven tapestries, tufted wall hangings and experimental textile works. Tapestries in particular are of interest to him and he looks to constantly evolve and challenge his expectations of the format and of the materials he chooses to use in his works. His smaller works have been developed more recently and often utilise more unusual materials such as pine needles, driftwood, raffia and willow. The inspiration for such works, both large and small, comes from the natural world and can be as diverse as studying the changing colours through a season, a detail of a natural object or a study of local harvest fields. His work has been commissioned for many significant corporate and private collections and has been exhibited widely both in Ireland and abroad. Dunne was a Merit Award Winner of the 2009 Crafts Council of Ireland Craft Bursary Award. Very popular in homes with wooden floors, his rugs are exercises in colour and are designed and tailored individually for each living space. You may visit Terry Dunne’s web site to view examples of commissioned work as well as pieces that are available for sale. Duncormick, the location of Terry Dunne’s cottage is on beautiful River Muck and is one of the stops on the scenic Bannow Drive, a popular tourist trail and signposted route through four Wexford villages including Cullenstown, Bannow and Wellingtonbridge. Duncormick, close to numerous beaches, is popular with holidaymakers and is a forty minute drive from Rosslare ferry port, to the east, which serves Britain and one part of France.
