The Jane

About

Brand-new nightclub The Jane opened on downtown Gråbrødretorv Square in March 2011. Taking the Emmy-award-winning US TV-show "Mad Men" as its inspiration, dressing up is definitely the thing to do for at night at The Jane, which is image-conscious enough to target women guests in particular. The club's interior is tasteful and dark, with plenty of solid wood panelling, library-style book shelves and plush leather sofas, and separated into three distinct areas: The first is a large area with old-school cocktails and wooden mantelpiece, leading to a second, smaller bar filled with Chesterfields and cigar smoke; the two final, secret bars open at 10pm via a secret door and furnished in a more modern style. The experienced bar staff here – many of them poached from Copenhagen's top cocktail bars - are as smart as the furnishings, sporting pristine white shirts complete with cuff-links and ties, yet despite all the crisp, white perfection, prices aren't exorbitantly high, with all cocktails priced under DKK 85. There are a number of different bars with differing musical styles, though jive and swing are all the rage in the cocktail bar.
