The Leaning Tower of Pisa

About

The most popular attraction of Pisa, the Leaning Tower is the freestanding bell tower of Duomo. Soon after the onset of its construction, the tower began to lean due to the loose substrate. Bonanno Pisano is said to begin the construction of the tower in 1173. The Leaning Tower of Pisa is 56 meters tall. It features Pisan architecture and the interior has a big cylindrical shaft. The spiral staircase has 294 steps, leading to the bell chamber. Galileo conducted his famous experiments with the falling bodies from the top of this tower. The view from the top overlooking the Cemetery and the entire city is breathtaking.
