Just 10 kilometres away from Trivandrum city is an ancient lighthouse known as Vizhinjam lighthouse which was constructed in the year 1925. Standing tall at 57 meters from the sea level, this 36-meter high tower is open for just 3 hours every day, for public view. Capture the stunning views of the Arabian Sea lined with coconut trees on one side from atop the lighthouse as you climb the 144 steps and a ladder. Vizhinjam beach around the light house is a part of the famous Kovalam beach. The light house road is ideal for long walks and cycling. entrance fee of 25/- for foreigners.
