Balaganchik

Trekhprudny Pereulok, 10/2 Cuisines: European, French

About

In Russian, balaganchik refers to folk theatre, such as when local village troupes put on comical shows to crowds at central marketplaces. Masks and reprints of traditional pictures hang playfully on the walls. There are plenty of reds, purples and yellows to add to the air of festivity. Menu is French and Russian. On the upper floor there's an old tavern-style cafe called Riumki (stemmed glasses), where the prices are a lot lower. They offer a set meal, the so-called fast lunch, for which the menu changes on a daily basis.
