Ballybunion South Beach is a Blue Flag Beach of 2013. It is a beautiful stretch of golden sand surrounded by rocky headlands and high cliffs overlooked by a picture perfect castle. This beach is lifeguarded during the bathing season and more information can be found on the notice board located at the beach.The area is within a proposed Natural Heritage Area and also forms part of the Lower River Shannon Special Area of Conservation.
