Bhagirathi Shila is a sacred rock located near to the holy temple of Ganga in the city of Gangotri. It is alleged that the water of holy river Ganga is believed to have nectar in it. Numerous scientists did research on it and finally concluded that the water from Ganga at its origin is in a pure state. Also it remains uncontaminated even after being kept for several years on end. The secretions of herbs and mineral content from the Glacier which mix with the Ganga water forms Ganga Jal.
