Casa das Historias Paula Rego

Avenida da República 300

About

The influential Portuguese artist Paula Rego is a prolific painter and printmaker renowned for her bizarre depictions of folk tales and the female form. Since 2009 a collection of paintings and etchings produced by the artist on a variety of media using a wide range of techniques has been on permanent display at this extraordinary venue, designed by Eduardo Souto de Moura. Some of the pieces have never before been exhibited. Works by Rego's late husband, Victor Willing, are also included. A 200-seat auditorium hosts regular lectures, conferences and talks. In addition to the permanent collection, new paintings by Rego are often unveiled here first.
