Fisk

Sankt Peders Stræde 1

About

Located in the heart of Copenhagen's Latin Quarter, Fisk is the name of the flagship store of Danish charity 'Folkekirkens Nødhjælp' (DanChurchAid) – but this is no ordinary charity shop or thrift store. Spread over two floors, offbeat Fisk sells furniture, clothing and a variety of colorful bric-a-brac; some are fair-trade products from Africa and Central America, while others – including one-of-a-kind dresses and furniture pieces – have been redesigned by local artists and design students. The volunteer-run store also has a small yet pleasant cafe area serving fair-trade coffees and chocolate as well as cakes and cookies. In addition, Fisk holds occasional fashion shows where the redesigned outfits get to shine on the catwalk.
