About

This historical street is certainly worth a visit as it has some of the most beautiful buildings in the capital. Its name dates back to the 16th century when the first manor houses where built here by clergy and nobility. The main construction came in the 17th and 18th centuries. Starting at Plac Bankowy you can see the former Landau Bank (no 38) which is one of the best preserved Art deco interiors in Warsaw. Nearby you can see the roccoco monument of St. Jan Nepomucen - a popular Catholic saint. Opposite is Blekitney Palace, started in the 17th century and the place where the young Chopin performed in the beginning of the 19th century. Further down the road on the left is the Church of St. Anthony of Padua, founded in the 17th century in the Baroque style. At no13/15 you can see the primate's Palace which were the headquarters of the Polish primates for 200 years.
