Speakeasy

Rocha Conde Obidos

About

Actually when this place fills up it's not easy to speak at all. It can get loud and raucous in at times, but that's testament to its popularity as one of the city's busiest restaurant-live music clubs. Its location on Lisbon's dock front places it off the mainstream map, and the brickwork interior lends it an appealing blue-collar flavour. A scan of the menu reveals the chef's broad affinity with music. Check out the lombinhos de tamboril à Charlie Parker (monkfish steak). Or how about caril do Ravi Shankar (prawn curry cooked in white wine). There's even a steak dish called bife do Tony Bennet. The live music is serious stuff and strikes up around 11pm. The soundtrack varies from jazz and soul to fado and blues. If it's a well-known act, expect dancing on the tables. Speakeasy is very popular with groups so telephone ahead if you're claustrophobic. Also note that smoking is permitted. © NileGuide20011 Speakeasy is one of the most well known bars/restaurants in Lisbon. Its location is unique, right in front of it is the Tagus river, with a beautiful view that can be enjoyed if there is good weather. The atmosphere inside is relaxed and invites you to stay a bit longer. Live Jazz and blues music every night 11pm onwards.
