Teppanyaki may bring to mind Japanese noodles and Kobe beef, but Ben Teppanyaki in Taipei had the genius idea of bringing classical French cuisine table-side with the teppanyaki cooking style. From decadent fois gras served with sweet pear to glazed lobster or sauteed sea scallops, the food from Ben comes fresh and delicious. The molten chocolate cake is well worth saving room for. The restaurant is more brightly lit than many teppanyaki restaurants, but the decor is still elegant and romantic. With the cooking area right at your table, the setup may not be ideal for families dining with young children, but older children will enjoy the showmanship of the chefs.
