About the tour
North East is a land of beautifull hills and plains with luxurious green cover and a wide variety or rare and exotic flora . Shillong was a small village until 1864, when it became the new civil station of the Khasi and Jaintia hills. It remained the summer capital of Eastern Bengal and Assam for many years. Perched at an altitude of 1,520 meters (4,990 feet) above sea level, the city stretches for about 6 km on an elevated tract.

Day-wise Itinerary
ExpandDay 1: Guwahati Arrival-umiam Lake – Shillong (110kms-120kms/2hrs-3hrs)
On arrival at Guwahati proceed for Shillong, called 'Scotland of the East" (270 kms 7 hrs). Enroute visit Umiam Lake, a majestic placid lake with its surrounding sylvan hills. On arrival at Shillong, check in at your hotel. Back to the hotel. Overnight stay will be at Shillong.
Day 2: Shillong – Mawsynram - Cherrapunji (225kms-240kms/3hrs-4hrs)
- After early breakfast drive to Mawsynram. On arrival visit Mawjymbuin Cave. Later proceed to Cherrapunji (60 kms, 1½hrs), the wettest place in the world. You will see the beautiful waterfall known as Nohkalikai. Later visit Ramakrishna Mission, Sohra Market, Eco Park, Koh Ramhah (Rock) and Mawsmai cave.
- Overnight stay will be at Cherrapunji.
Day 3: Cherrapunji-mawlynnong Village-shillong (150kms-170kms/3hrs-4hrs)
After breakfast checkout from Cherrapunji and proceed to Shillong. Enroute visit Mawlynnong village which has won the acclaim of being the cleanest village in year 2003 and cleanest village of India in 2005. The village also offers breathtaking view of Bangladesh plains as it is located on the Indo-Bangla border. Visit Natural Balncing Rock and Root Bridge at Riwai.
Day 4: Shillong-jaintia Hills-shillong (95kms-105kms/2hrs-3hrs One Way)
After breakfast From Shillong, drive to Jowai. North East Experience - Assam and Meghalaya then takes you to a full Day excursion to the Jaintia tribal villages in Jaintia Hills. Here, you can see tribal life from close quarters. Visit Syntu Ksiar, Thadlaskein Lake, Syndai and Nartiang. Drive back to Shillong in the evening.
Day 5: Shillong Sight Seeing (100kms-120kms/2hrs-3hrs)
After breakfast visit Don Bosco Monument, Ward’s Lake, Shillong Peak, Bara Bazaar, Elephant Falls, Butterfly Museum etc. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 6: Shillong – Guwahati (100kms-120kms/2hrs-3hrs)
After breakfast drive to Guwahati (100 kms, 3 hrs). Arrive and check in at hotel. Enroute visit 'Kalakshetra', a place where Assamese history and culture presents through Light and sound show. Return to hotel.
Day 7: Guwahati
- After breakfast visit Kamakhya Temple, Navagraha Temple, Assam State Zoo, Basishta Ashram, Bhubaneshwari Temple, Science Centre etc. Evening Brahmaputra cruise at 1730hrs.
- Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 08: Guwahati-bangalore
After breakfast checkout and proceed to airport. Board your return flight to Bangalore.
