The week-long trip to Gujarat’s peninsula here is perfect for a refreshing break from a hectic life and a recall of Mahatma Gandhi’s life as we explore the Ashrams in Ahmedabad. We start with Mahatma Gandhi’s home in Sabarmati and Sevagram, Gandhi Ashram, then walk through the city as we visit the stepwells that sustained its people over 500 years ago and the impressive carvings within Akshardham Temple. Take part in Sandhya Aarti at Darshan Shree Dwarkadhish Mandir in Dwarka during our stay there and explore all the prominent spots when it comes to Lord Krishna’s upbringing. We’ll also visit the childhood home of Mahatma Gandhi in Porbandar, Kirti Mandir. Let yourself be taken back in time as you visit Takhteshwar Temple, before visiting Kevadia for the world’s tallest statue, Statue of Unity.

Day-wise Itinerary

Day 1: Ahmedabad

  • Upon arrival in Ahmedabad, our team will take you to the hotel to check into the hotel. In the afternoon, we go on half-day sightseeing around Ahmedabad. Our destination for the day starts from Gandhi Ashram, located in the Sabarmati suburb of the city, one of the known residences of Mahatma Gandhi during his stay in Sabarmati and Sevagram. Also not to be missed is the first organized ashram in India, the Kochrab Ashram. Mohandas Gandhi received this from his best friend, Jivanlal Desai and it was founded on May 25, 1915.
  • Then we move to Adalaj Stepwell, an octagonal-shaped sandstone with a prominent Solanki architectural style. The five-story deep structure brags strong pillars that date back to 1499 when it was used as a refuge for the people, where spiritual sustenance was provided along with water.
  • We’ll visit the Akshardham Temple in Gandhinagar, a large Hindu temple complex and campus, where visitors can marvel at the intricately carved stone structure and architecture that were the result of hard work by 900 artisans.
  • Before returning to the hotel, you don’t want to miss the Light & Sound show. We’ll enjoy dinner at the hotel and spend overnight in Ahmedabad.

Day 2: Ahmedabad – Dwarka (400 Km, 8-hour Approx.)

  • After breakfast at the hotel, we head for Dwarka in the early morning. If the road is smooth, the drive to Dwarka takes around 8 hours. Once we reach the city, we will check you into the hotel. If time allows us, we’ll go for Darshan Shree Dwarkadhish Mandir for Sandhya Aarti. It was believed that Lord Krishna blessed Gomti River flowing near Dwarkadhish that was his resident. We return to the hotel and rest for the night.

Day 3: Dwarka - “ A City Of Preserved Ancients”

  • Enjoy a sumptuous breakfast at the hotel before we visit the Dwarkadhish Temple and visit the Gomti River. Visitors can take a holy dip in the river, which flows water believed to absolve humans of their sins. Then we head to one of twelve Jyotirlingas, the Nageshwar Jyotirling, where a massive 80-feet tall statue of Lord Shiva can be found.
  • Then we head to Bet Dwarka, but not without stopping at Gopi Talav, which is a mid-size lake with religious importance to the locals where Shree Krishna was said to play with his childhood friends and Gopi, the milkmaid. Then we ride the boat to head for the small island of Bet Dwarka, indulging in the beautiful panoramic style along the way. You don’t want to miss the beautiful, long shore of Shivrajpur Beach, a gorgeous spot featuring white-sandy beach with rocky outcrops.
  • On our way back, we’ll stop at the Rukmini Devi Temple, where the Hindu goddess Rukmini is revered to. The architecturally rich structure contains fervor towards the deity worshipped and is said to have stood for more than 2,500 years, albeit it may have gone through several major reconstructions. Even so, its latest outer and inner exterior possibly belonged to the work of artisans from the 12th century.
  • We attend evening Aarti at Dwarkadish Temple after visiting other nearby coastal temples beforewe return to the hotel for dinner and let you rest for the night in Dwarka.

Day 4: Dwarka – Porbandar – Somnath (250 Km, 5-hour Approx.) - “ Mahatma Gandhi’s Origin”

  • After breakfast, we set off to Somnath, which is a 5-hour drive, 250-km long journey. Enroute, we make a quick stop in Porbandar, which is the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi. We’ll be graced by the first house of the social activist, Kirti Mandir, which is now open as a museum dedicated to his life’s work, filled with the man’s presence.
  • In Somnath, we directly go to Sandhya Arti Darshan at Somnath Mahadev Temple before checking into the hotel. We spend overnight in Somnath.

Day 5: Somnath – Bhavnagar (200 Km, 4-hour Approx.)

  • From Somnath, we head to Bhavnagar after you fill yourself with breakfast. We check into the hotel before visiting Gandhi Smriti, an institution built in memory of Mahatma Gandhi. The museum was also the very house where Mahatma Gandhi spent the last 144 days of his life and recalled the man’s collection of books in his library. It is also a gallery of pictures of the prolific writer Bapu’s Life.
  • In the evening, we will visit Takhteshwar Temple, one of the oldest temples in Gujarat that was entirely built in marble. Perched atop the hillock, it overlooks the city of Bhavnagar under it. After dinner, we will take you back to the hotel and stay overnight in Bhavnagar.

Day 6: Bhavnagar To Kevadia (280 Km, 5-hour Approx.) - “ A Must-see Tourist Spot”

  • After breakfast, we will check out and head to Kevadia, which is around 4 hours away by land. We’ll check in the hotel and have lunch.
  • The “Statue of Unity” is the world’s tallest statue that stands at an impressive height of 182 meters, a sight to behold you can see up close at an extra cost. And not far from here is the Sardar Patel Zoological Park, which has a Jungle Safari and is home to over 170 species of animals, including those from America, Asia, Africa, and Australia, in their natural habitat.
  • We take you back to the hotel in the evening to rest for the night in Kevadia after dinner.

Day 7: Kevadia – Ahmedabad (200 Km, 4-hour Approx.)

  • After breakfast in Kevadia, we’ll take you to Ahmedabad for your flight or train schedule to leave for home.

  • CANCELLATIONS / REFUNDS
  • A reservation should be considered cancelled only after receiving our confirmation of such cancellation. If a cancellation is received less than 60 days prior to the arrival of passenger, the cancellation expenses will be charged according to the following table:
  • · 14 – 08 days before arrival: 50% of total price
  • · 07 – 00 days or if have no show of passenger: 100% of total price.
  • There will be no refund for unused services or changes in itineraries made by passengers without permission.
  • BAGGAGE
  • It is allowed 02 suitcase normal sized per passenger in all transports. Passenger shall be fully responsible for their luggage and personal belongings during the course of the trip. Regarding to land transport, luggage and other personal belongings should be kept with you, whatever part of the vehicle that will be placed and will be transported at the risk of the user. We recommend users are present in all manipulations of loading and unloading of baggage. Baggage on air transport, rail, sea or driving, conditions of transport companies will apply, being the ticket passage, the document binds the mentioned companies to the passenger. If client suffer any baggage damage, loss or delay, the passenger must present a claim against the Transport Company. For transport of large volumes of luggage such as bicycles, surfboards, etc, a supplement will apply (please consult). The tour packages in economy class can have a piece of 15kg in air transport. The company may charge a supplement or can refuse baggage that exceed this weight or parts. Recommended not to store valuables, medication, passport, documents or money inside baggage. If you want to have this procedure, make a statement before travelling.
  • TIPS / TAXES / TICKETS
  • Tickets to museums and sites during excursions are included. Not included any kind of tip, and the tips are at your discretion.
  • TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
  • Passenger must have valid passport, and visas for the countries that require them. Under 18 years old must have an authorization letter written and signed by their parents or guardians as such document can be requested by any authority. In the case of loss of a document for passenger such as hotel voucher, ferries tickets, air tickets, etc, we will not be held responsible and the penalty that will apply for a new booking and issuance of such documents.
