Port Blair has been one of India’s favorite destination for a getaway trip, boasting wondrous view of nature. As the capital city of Andaman, however, it also tells the prideful story of Indian activists that fought for the country’s freedom, their proof of courage immortalized within the Cellular Jail. As the sky turns dark, the Light & Sound Show begins to educate visitors on the fights and struggles that those who suffered in the jail and how they were all worth it. From Port Blair, Ross Island and North Bay Island are two famous, close spots to visit on an island cruise. Ross Island used to be the capital of these islands with only leftover ruins of what was the British administrative headquarters. There’s now a small museum, Smritika, and it’s now under the Indian Navy’s administration. Trails were also made for a relaxing walk through lush greenery accompanied by friendly deer. Then over to North Bay Island, also known as Coral Island, where glass-bottom boat ride service is offered. We’ll also hop on an excursion to Havelock Island, a beautiful tropical island with vast, silver sandy beaches and head to Radhanagar Beach where diving and snorkeling activities are available. The clearwater offers 40m of visibility and a rather calm underwater ecosystem with beautiful coral reefs. It truly is worth the praise and mention as it made into Time Magazine’s “finest” beach throughout Asia.
