The 20th Russell Memorial Weekend begins on Friday night with a showcase of young talent from the Aoibhin Holden School of Dancing. Featuring traditional music with a host of local musicians, set dancing, sean nos and brush dancing, it is bound to be a night to remember. The Saturday afternoon concert features the unmissable Ann Droney Kirrane and her band with special guests Chris and Francis Droney, Aine McGrath and the Cooraclare sean nos dancers. This is followed by a food and wine reception, before the ever popular informal sing around. On Sunday, the commemorative memorial mass and wreath laying takes place. That evening, a set dancing session will take place at 7pm with the Five Counties Ceili Band providing the music. There are workshops in several traditional instruments being held over the weekend and of course there will also be several lively and fun filled pub sessions from early until late every day.
