Aizome

Alameda Fernão Cardim, 39 Cuisines: Asian, Japanese

About

With more Japanese descendants than any city outside of Japan, São Paulo possesses a stable of classic sushi joints. But at Aizome, a new-wave Japanese restaurant in Jardins, Chef Skin Koike takes a "provocative, creative and personal" re-reading of the traditional cuisine. The restaurant's brilliant execution of daring recipe interpretations has led Veja magazine to select Aizome as the best Japanese restaurant in São Paulo for two years running. House specialties include grilled duck with red wine reduction, foie gras and portabello tempura. The sampler, offered only at night, comprises two appetizers, two hot dishes, three varieties of sashimi, sushi and dessert. The lunch menu comprises five daily options and the mini-sampler.
