There is no sign in English outside, just follow the crowds to this famous 24-hour eatery, located on a pedestrianized street near Midan Orabi. Push through the multitude of men to order at the tiny window in the take-away section then take your ticket to the high counter and vie for attention. For those that can't read the Arabic menu, there's a sit-down section next door with air conditioning and two cashiers frantically punching keys on their vintage cash registers. Serves cheap and delicious hearty Egyptian fare: fuul, taamiya, Baba Ghannouj, etc. Everything comes with baladi bread and turshi. Makes great fuul bi-salsa (beans and tomato stew) and what may be the best variant of shakshouka (scrambled eggs, tomato sauce, garlic, pepper) in all of Cairo.
