Al Forno

36 East Street Cuisines: Italian

About

Brighton's first pizzeria, Al Forno, opened in 1973. It is the sister restaurant of another local favourite, Al Duomo, and both are just as bustling and lively as you imagine restaurants in Italy to be. Al Forno has an authentic and rustic feel and being located just by a square in the Lanes, you could almost imagine you're dining out in Roma. And you know what to do when in Rome! The menu is pragmatically Italian, old-style rather than the modern Italian cuisine which has been springing up recently. Delicious pizzas are cooked in a pizza oven and the pastas rarely disappoint. Cheap enough to enjoy some of the dangerously delicious desserts, a bargain at under £3.
