About

Alföldi is named after Hungary's flat plain region and is paneled with horizontal brown wood-stripped walls with assorted old plates above, creating a homey country feel. The dining room offers wooden booths or tables with traditional country hand-embroidered tablecloths and placemats in folk designs. Each table has a basket of spicy homemade pogácsas (a type of biscuit), and you will be charged for each one eaten, but worth the nominal charge. The veal Bakony style with gnocchi-like pasta had the same sauce as the chicken paprika, a sour cream sauce with paprika. Both were delicious, served without any flare, in a down-home country manner. The kitchen closes an hour before the restaurant.
