20 kilometres east of Takeo

About

A visit to the river town of Angkor Borei and the ancient ruins nearby at Phnom Da makes an excellent day trip from Phnom Penh. During the wet season, the hill of Phnom Da becomes an island and the approach by boat is spectacular. The ruins themselves date from the Funan (4th century), Chelna (6th-8th century) and Angkorian eras (9th-15th century). The museum at Angkor Borei houses artifacts from the area. To get there, take Highway #2, 75 kilometers south of Phnom Penh to Takeo town and then organize a boat to the temples at the waterfront .
