Antica Drogheria Mascari

Calle degli Spezieri 381

About

In the area of Rialto Market, a few steps off Rialto Bridge, Mascari still stands as the oldest grocery shop in Venice. The Mascari family sells spices, teas, oil, balsamic vinegar, truffles and artistically made pasta since 1948. The accent lies on the ingredients commonly used in Italian cuisine. Many products, such as porcini mushrooms, tomatoes and aubergines are available sun-dried, and are sold in packets or in jars preserved in olive oil. Truffle butter, Sicilian capers and wild oregano are also for sale. The grocer's shop is also well-known for its many different types of infusions (some of them quite unusual), the large honey selection (50 different kinds!) and for its coffee blends from all over the world.
